2017 NDS WA Disability Support Awards

Great Southern Personnel (GSP) proudly nominated 3 Employment Coordinators for the awards. They were Siobhain, Dee and Kris.  Siobhain, Dee and Michelle (Bunbury site Team Leader) attended the event and although weren’t award winners they had a great night and were thrilled to be part of the event.

This year's awards drew 130 nominations, and winners were announced at a gala dinner held at Crown Perth on Saturday April 29, in front of sell-out crowd of 750 guests.

National Disability Services (NDS), WA State Manager Julie Waylen said the awards set an important benchmark for excellence, and recognise the positive impact support workers can have on the lives of people with disability.

"Working in the disability sector is more than just a job; it’s a great career choice for those looking for meaningful challenges and those who want to have a real and profound impact on the lives of people with disability and their families," she said.

It's about giving support that recognises the person, respects their dignity and enables them to live a good life.

GSP would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the efforts of all its Employment Coordinators in assisting people with a disability, illness or injury to gain sustainable employment.

August Newsletter - Networking

On the 1st of July BNI held a disability services morning in which 8 local agencies shared what they do in our community to support people with a disability. These included;  Great Southern Personnel, Worklink, ACTIV, Southern Regional TAFE, Disability Service Commission, Albany Secondary Education Support Centre, City of Albany, CarersWA and Dale Arthur from National Disability Coordination Officer (Perth).

We would like to give a special thank you to our client Ron who shared his own personal story and how many of these organization’s have assisted him to get his life back on track enabling him now to chase his dreams and aspirations.

All members found the session very informative and didn’t realize what incredible services we have to support community members with an illness, injury or disability.
